A lobby day program is usually the signature annual event for most government relations programs. It is an opportunity to provide your members with valuable education and training, build critical relationships with policymakers, and advance your agenda. Advocacy Associates can provide assistance and support to make your event successful in any of the following areas:

Coordinating congressional meetings

Advocacy Associates can coordinate the individual meetings for your advocates with appropriate congressional offices. This coordination includes:

  • Drafting meeting correspondence
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Maintaining a customized database of appointments
  • Providing online access to a regularly update list of confirmed meetings
  • Providing final itineraries for participants
  • On-site assistance and support during your event.

Advocacy Training

We offer training sessions to help advocates prepare for their meetings on Capitol Hill, as well as inspire them to become more active and effective advocates at home. The curriculum would be completely customized to meet your needs and would cover basics such as how to prepare for a meeting, what to expect, how to develop a personalized story, how members can build better grassroots networks, how to work effectively with lawmakers in districts and states, and strategies for effective advocacy.

Supporting the development of pre-conference materials

Successful advocacy events require a variety of collateral support materials for advocate training, issue promotion, and organizational branding. Advocacy Associates has helped clients design and develop compelling and creative materials for advocates and lobby meetings. We can provide general support and advice on material development or play a direct role in drafting, designing or editing products. Additionally, Advocacy Associates can provide on-going support and advice to association staff on the structure of the lobby day program and the crafting of issue messages and requests. This support could include participation in any conference calls, meetings or other events designed to develop key messages, refine key talking points, and identify specific asks.

Providing online training support through Advocacy Classroom

Advocacy Associates offers customized online training through "Advocacy Classrooms." This product allows lobby day participants to access training resources on effective advocacy and issue briefing material in an online format. Users complete an online "class" on your issues. Users can complete classroom sections at their own pace. The system has robust functionality and can be an on-going resource for your advocates. The system is completely customizable and provides an effective way to support and train advocates in advance of the lobby day event. The service is hosted on a remote server but can be fully integrated with your website in a way that increases traffic and adds value for your supporters and members.
